Hooray for spring! If you live in a cold part of the world, those rising temperatures can be pretty necessary to keep your sanity. If you’re tired of gray skies and you want to celebrate, then why not head to the poker table? Of course, we’re showing our deep love of poker. Yes, we would rather be inside for a weekend of poker than going outside and dealing with all of the pollen to be found. However, we’re not total outside haters — we just want to make some extra money so that we can enjoy the great outdoors even more.

Anyway, if you’re really serious about dusting off your poker game and making more profit, then this guide is definitely for you. Happy Spring … and read on for more information!

First and foremost, you need to have the right tools. Getting software that helps you look at your total hand history is definitely a good thing. This isn’t cheating — most of the top players will tell you the same thing. You need to make sure that you’re focusing on the bigger picture, rather than just hoping that everything will fall into place. You have to make sure that you’re really looking at everything possible to make everything else connect together. You can look back at certain situations and really figure out whether or not you made the best move possible.

Of course, you don’t have to do this on your own. There are plenty of poker forums out there. When poker players aren’t going head to head, you’ll find that they really do want to help you out in any way that they possibly can. This means that it’s definitely a good idea to ask for help in the forums. Of course, you want to search the forum thoroughly before you ask your questions. This is because many newcomer questions have probably already been addressed. This is a good thing of course.

What you also need to think about is the type of bankroll that you’re working with compared to your stakes. It’s very possible that you’re playing at too high of a stake for your bankroll to keep up with. If this is the case, going to lower stakes might be a good idea. You also get to scalp some weaker players at lower stakes at a higher frequency than at the higher stakes. The top players hang out at the higher stakes, which means that your chances of getting creamed are pretty high.

We also have to address the mental side of poker. It’s very easy to end up getting emotional about the game, thanks to getting bad beats. You might have the best hand possible and then your opponent happens to get lucky. Instead of getting mad, just shrug it off and keep going. If you can’t do that, then you’re going to have to make sure that you step away from poker until you get the right mindset again.

If the winter days of playing poker were bad to you, then it’s time to shift your mind and realize that spring could bring bigger returns than you have ever imagined. Good luck!
